Welcome to our first public webinar! In this webinar, along with a community college’s digital marketing manager and a student ambassador, we discuss how to launch a successful street team and how to leverage it to humanize your college and connect with your community in a more authentic way.

You will learn about:

  • The reasons community colleges should be investing in social media
  • The benefits and challenges of running a social media student program
  • Strategies for recruiting, compensating, and training students
  • Managing gen Z workers and collaborating on content creation

We also addressed the following questions from the audience:

  • How do you get students to get involved as an ambassador? We struggle with getting students excited and energetic about participating on camera/social media.
  • Another challenge we see is content approval. How do you make sure the students don’t go rogue. What’s the approval process?
  • Do you give students full access to school accounts?
  • How to measure results?
  • How do you handle Instagram audio? I’ve noticed the school account has very limited access to trending audio vs. my personal account.
  • Just generally people seem to take things very personally online. How do you handle posting something that seems innocuous and then a few people comment and seem offended? The ultimate scare is putting something out and then having it go viral for the wrong reasons.
  • How do you handle other departments wanting their own Instagram accounts?
  • What is a posting frequency?
  • How many posts are the students creating per week?
  • How many hours are the students working per week?
  • Do you ever double dip by posting to TikTok and then sharing to reels?
  • Do you focus on specific classes/start dates? We struggle with departments relying heavily on traditional posts to advertise their classes and they don’t get much traffic. I feel like it clutters our account.

I am certain you will find this webinar very informative, practical, and inspirational!
